Cyren Species Reference Sheet

Anatomy:
Cyrens are a bipedal, cold-blooded species that have flexible, hoof-like feet with distinctly bulbous fetlocks. The most defining feature is a pliable, soft, heart-shaped crest (both male and female) that frames the face and ends mid-abdomen both front and back. The crest is bioluminescent so it always gives off a faint glow. The eyes consist of slanted, narrow eye sockets, or orbits, that are hollow and contain large, glowing eyeballs. There are no eyelids, so Cyrens cannot blink to protect their eyes; however, should need be, they can retract their eyeballs deep into their orbits.

Two nasal passages are located above the eyes and are responsible for breathing, yet Cyrens lack a sense of smell. A Cyren’s dental anatomy reflects that of a carnivore, as Cyrens are exclusively meat-eaters. Their tongues sport tiny barbs that help latch onto prey. They are not furred creatures in any way, as they are not mammals, but the species exhibits a wide variety of skin colors and it is common for the hands, hooves, abdomens, and faces to differ in hue. Their blood is burgundy or maroon in color.
